“A soul within, A soul without

Now flip the coin

And switch about

But whether out, Or whether in

                                                                               Tiz not a game

A soul can win...”

This all-ages, system-agnostic adventure begins with the story of a cursed coin.

Many hundreds of years ago, in a land far, far from the one your group of friends finds themselves in now, there was a pirate queen and her name was Scarlet Skarry.

She ruled her fleet with a will of iron and a steady hand on the wheel but death caught up with her eventually, just as it does us all.

When Scarlet knew that the years were catching up with her, she made the first mistake that all piratanical rulers make. She stowed her treasure on an island, buried it and drew a map with an X to mark the special spot.

And then she made the second mistake that all piratanical rulers make. She told her crew.

The crew mutinied, of course, marooned the pirate queen on the island and stole all the treasure for themselves.

So the pirate queen made the only sensible decision she had made thus far. She put a curse on the coins.

Under this curse, the soul of each of the mutinous pirates became trapped inside the coins.

One coin – one pirate soul inside.

The pirate souls desire freedom - will your party choose to give it to them? Or will they become trapped inside a coin themselves?

Hi Penny

Thank you for submitting to the 2nd CoinSides Adventure Sparks Jam. Your entry was one of the 5 Gold Winners. Please contact me to arrange your prize.  Congratulations. I'm sorry it took so long to reach out to you.

Oh my goodness, I freaking love those threats. They're HILARIOUS and perfect! The whole of it is great, don't get me wrong, but the threats are especially fantastic. This is a fun take on cursed treasure, and I love the possibilities it brings with it.

I'm actually picturing people in a sci-fi/futuristic setting and that the coins are super old, so the trapped pirate is from looooooooooong ago and gets out, when all of the "person vastly out of their original time" tropes can happen 🤣
